WELCOME to Encouraging Words Academic Consulting

Welcome to the new Encouraging Words blog. I’m excited that you stopped by. The purpose of this blog is to be a resource for parents and students to learn more about the college planning process. I will include information about upcoming events, editorial pieces, links to videos and links to education related articles as well. If you have not already done so, please feel free to follow the Encouraging Words page on Facebook.com.

Once upon a time the college degree was hailed as the Holy Grail. As long as you had a degree in something you did not have to worry about getting a job. Now that may be a slight exaggeration but, the point remains that the college degree does not have the same cache that it once had. Despite that fact, research by institutions such as the Bureau of Labor Statistics justify why having a college degree is still relevant and beneficial. A college education can also mean a greater average salary over the course of a lifetime.

One thing I know for sure especially after working in college admissions and advising, is that parents and students must be much more strategic in their college planning than in past decades. Rising costs and greater competition are now factors that must be taken in consideration. Each week I will take a look at various aspects of the college planning process and share them on this site.

Next week I will begin the official launch for this site and I hope that you will join me here from time to time to see what’s new. If you would like to contact me directly please feel free to email me at Encouraging1@live.com. Until next time, thanks for stopping by and have an amazing day!!!!
